How to make paper balloons

If you are looking for a fun and easy craft, this craft is perfect for you! In this post, I will walk you through the steps with pictures. First, gather some materials:

  • Scissors, or an Exacto knife
  • Glue stick ( or tape, though it won’t work as well)
  • 4 sheets of colored paper
  • A pen
  • A water-bottle ( or other circular object)

Step #1: Trace the outline of your water-bottle onto a piece of paper.

Step #2: Next, stack the pieces of paper on top of each other ( with the one with the circle on top) and cut out the circle. You should have 4 colored circles.

Step #3: Do step 2 again. You should have eight circles.

Step #4: Fold all of the circles in half.

Step #5: Glue one half of the circle to another circle’s half.

Step #6: Continue to do this until you have something resembling the picture below:

Step #7: Flip your creation over and apply glue to the back.

Step #8: Flip it over again, and press it onto a blank sheet of paper.

Step #9: Choose what kind of balloon you want to make it into, some of my suggestions are below:

  • A happy birthday balloon:

This balloon is very easy, all you have to do is add a string, and the words happy birthday ( or other words of choice).

  • A hot air balloon:

For a hot air balloon, there are more steps.

#1- Cut out two basket looking shapes out of brown paper.

#2- Cut a slight arc out of one of the ” baskets”.

#3- Glue the bottom and side edges of the bigger one onto the smaller one ( like a pocket).

#4 ( optional) – Add a note inside the pocket .

#5- Add strings.

  • Another idea for a balloon is to not make it a balloon at all, and at “Step #7”, press both sides together to make a 3D circle.

I love these Noel. Very clever. I wish you were here to make some. I am having a party for a friend of mine on Friday and those would be a great addition!

Well, me too. But, they are very simple, so you could probably make them too. 🙂
