Chains is a wonderful and highly educational book. It would likely be enjoyed by many people over the age of 9. I rate this book a 10/10. Chains takes place in New York city before, during, and after the Revolutionary war. It tells about a young slave girl Isabel and her sister Ruth after their owner died. Although their owner put in her will that after she died her 2 slaves would be free, the will is no where to be seen. So, Isabel and Ruth have to be sold to new owners. But not just any owners, cruel, unjust owners. Mrs. and Mr. Lockton ( new owners) treat Isabel and Ruth horribly and they have to obey anything they say. However, soon Isabel gets an offer to spy on her owners for information about how the British plan to attack the Americans and report it to the Patriots in return for her freedom. She first says no, but as time goes on and something appalling happens to her younger sister Ruth, and she befriends a boy her own age, she realizes she might have to in order to save not only herself, but her country. Read this fantastic, informing, compelling book to find out Isabel’s choice and how it affects those around her.

Even though I haven’t read the books, I love reading your reviews. I especially like the way you don’t give away the key ending to entice people to read the book and find it out for themselves. Well done!
By the way, I sent you a text thanking you for the Popper Ball. Did you get it?
