Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson, book one, was an amazing book that immediately pulled me in! I would rate it an 11 out of 10! This book is also for all ages and for people who enjoy ancient Greek and Roman history. It narrates the story of a young boy named Percy, who’s favorite color is blue, lives in New York City, and has a mom ( who he is very close with), and a stepfather ( who he despises and calls Smelly Gabe), and a father who is ” Lost at sea” . Percy is known for being a trouble kid, since bad things just seem to happen wherever he goes. He never makes it through one year at school, until this year. This year, Percy thinks he might just make it through, until the last day of school. On the last day, everything seems to be going great; Percy’s with his best friend Grover, and it’s almost summer! Then, Percy gets into a fight with a classmate. Water shoots up into her face, and she falls into a nearby fountain. Everybody suspects Percy did it. Then, something even more unusual happens. Percy’s math teacher grows wings and…turns into a monster? Percy gets into a fight with his teacher and vaporizes her. Even stranger, nobody acts like anything happens. Percy gets expelled from the school for pushing the girl into the water…but nobody even mentions his old math teacher. Soon, Grover tells Percy that he is not normal. He is a half-blood, or demi-god. His father is a Greek god, and his mother is a mortal. Grover also tells Percy that if he doesn’t get to Camp-half blood soon, then the monsters ( like Percy’s math teacher), will only get worse. Camp-half blood is a haven for half bloods where they are protected from monsters…but soon Percy finds he will be anything but protected. He is sent on a dangerous quest to retrieve something stolen. Will Percy make it? Will he survive the trials along the way? Will he save what was stolen? Read this awesome book to find out! If you enjoyed this book, read the rest in the series, the Disney T.V. show, or the Heroes Of Olympus series.

I LOVE this series along with many of the ones but other groups of gods that he and others have written in this world. The series with the Norse gods is also a favorite
