“The Fire The Water and Maudie Mcginn”

“The Fire The Water and Maudie Mcginn” is an amazing book telling the story of a girl with autism who is 14 years old named Maudie Mcginn. Maudie Mcginn lives with her stepdad and mom during the school year and her dad during the summers. She loves being with her dad, however, after a fire destroys their beautiful cabin where she would live with her dad, she has to move to the beachy area of Conwy. They live in a camper that her dad’s childhood friend has given them for free and soon Maudie grows attached to the nearby beach. She starts to learn how to surf and thinks about entering the local ” Surf Bash” to win some money to help get her dad and her back on their feet. The more attached she grows to the water, the less she wants to stay with her Mom. Read this book to learn more. I highly recommend this for an end-of summer read.
