Hi,
In this post I will be reviewing the Hunger Games, one of my favorite, ( if not my favorite), novels. The hunger games is a elaborate story, with twists, turns, and shockers that will have you holding onto your seats the whole 374 pages that this story goes on for. I would rate this book an 11/10. I would recommend it for ages 11 and up, however, it might have some scary themes, or content that might scare or frighten an 11 year old. There is also some mild swearing, and it may not set a great example. Those things aside, the Hunger games is a delicately, precisely, crafted novel that is enthralling and is one of the best books I have ever read. It stars a young Katniss Everdeen ( 16) who lives in District 12 of Panem. In the setting of the story, Panem is divided into 12 districts, and the capitol. The capitol, as it suggests in the name, rules all of the districts since the “rebellion”. During the rebellion, all of the districts rebelled against the capitol. Unfortunately for the districts, the capitol won. Now, in the districts, every year there is the ” Hunger Games”, where 2 children ( a boy and a girl) from each district are chosen to go into an arena, in which they must turn against each other to win. In this book, the only child left standing is the winner. This is the capitol’s way of punishing the districts for rebelling. When the book takes place, it is the beginning of another hunger games. Katniss’s sister, who she cares about more then anything, being only 12, gets her name drawn to participate. Katniss knows that the only way to protect her sister is to volunteer as tribute, and compete in the hunger games herself. Soon, Katniss and the other tribute from district 12 ( Peeta) form a friendship. But in the end, they know that there will only be one left standing. Who will it be? Katniss? Peeta? Another ambitious tribute? I highly recommend reading this book to find out. If you like this book, there are many more in the series that are pictured below.
