” The Town With No Mirrors”

I thought that the book ” The Town With No Mirrors” was super good. I read it in around 2-3 days because it was very, very enthralling and interesting. The book tells the story from the point of view of a seventh grader ( Zailey) who lives in a place called Gladder Hill. Population of 103 residents. Inside the very restricted community there are no mirrors, glass, glasses, or any reflective surfaces. Therefore, nobody who grew up in the town knows what they look like. Thinking about what other people look like is considered ” superficial” and if you have any objects that are reflective or draw people you are considered ” superficial” and will most likely get kicked out of their very special community where ” Everything is Gladder”. Zailey, however, is a budding young artist and loves to draw faces ( not that she can tell or show anyone). She also has many “superficial” thoughts about her appearance and others’. She lives with her grandma and has no parents to take care of her. Zailey’s grandma claims that Zailey’s mother had other ” superficial” priorities than taking care of her daughter. Zailey also makes a new friend named Noah and as she grows closer to him he admits he has superficial thoughts too sometimes. They work out a deal to draw each other, but before they can do so, something terrible happens to Zailey and her drawings. However, she also gets the chance to get out of Gladder Hill ( which has been her dream for quite a while now. Read this really good book to find out more!!!!
